The Gyeongui Line was originally constructed during the Japanese occupation to transport military forces to the northern region.

Decades later, local residents pushed the government to move the railway underground, and once that happened, the old railway land was transformed into a park filled with trees, paths, and open spaces.

Stretching for 6 kilometers, the park cuts through one of Seoul’s most energetic districts, close to Hongdae — a neighborhood known for youth culture, music, and art.

As a result, Yeontral Park quickly became a gathering place for young people, families, and anyone looking to enjoy a relaxed outdoor atmosphere.

Walking along the park, you’ll find countless cafés, local shops, small restaurants, and creative spaces.

This blend of nature and city life is what makes Yeontral Park so popular — you can enjoy a peaceful stroll, grab a drink, or simply sit and people-watch.

If you’re visiting the Hongdae area, Yeontral Park is a must-stop.

It’s one of the best places to feel the everyday rhythm of Seoul.
